How do things work? Where do I go? What do I wear?
Here is a list of information that will help you before, during, and after school.
DRESS CODE: All students are expected to follow the Oakleaf High School Dress Code. This is located in the front of their OHS Planner that is issued on the first day of school.
SCHOOL RULES: All rules are clearly defined in the OHS Planner and the rules apply to all students.
PLANNERS: Each student is issued an OHS Planner on the first day of school. Lost planners are replaced for a fee of $5.00. (School fee to replace planners and ID cards) Ms. Hawkins' students must bring them to school on a daily basis. Should the student go more than a week without their planner, they will be issued a new one and a $5.00 fee will be assessed. The planner is used as a communication tool between Ms. Hawkins and the parent.
Use the OHS planner for daily communication/sending notes to and from school.
Return signed papers, money, etc. in the planner. Be sure there's identifying information with the money so I know who the money belongs to!
STUDENT ID CARDS: Students are issued an ID card at the beginning of school. I have my InD students leave their ID's in the classroom because it is needed on a daily basis. However, if any OHS student chooses to take the card home home or loses it and it doesn't reappear in a timely manner, they are required to purchase a new ID card and a $5.00 fee will be accessed. So, if you see that ID card at home - send it back!
ARRIVAL: Beginning at 6:50am - Students arrive on buses/by car - students may go to the cafeteria to meet my assistant and other students or students may head straight to the classroom hallway and nearby atrium to socialize with friends and to await their 1st period teacher and class.
LATE TO SCHOOL? All Students: After the 7:15 bell, go straight to assigned class. After the 7:20 final bell - you must check in at the attendance office before heading to your 1st period class.
VISITORS: Classroom visits and parent/teacher meetings are by appointment so that valuable instructional time is not interrupted. If you need to bring an item to school for your student - take it to the front office. An office aide will deliver it for you when time allows.
DISMISSAL: Special transportation students get on the bus approximately 10-15 minutes earlier than standard dismissal. All other students are dismissed at standard dismissal time.
TURNING IN MONEY: When you send money to Ms. Hawkins for lunch, class t-shirts, field trips, etc. PLEASE attach a note to it with the student's name and what the money is for. Please place the money inside the student planner. Students give me their planner every morning, but some students remove the money and unless the money has a label attached I will not know who that money belongs to.
FIELD TRIPS/LUNCH TRIPS: Parents can expect to see permission slips sent home for the occasional lunch trip or having lunch delivered and the occasional off-campus field trip. Please note the "return by" date on the slip. After that date, I can not guarantee participation in the event due to the need for scheduling/calling all in orders, etc.
CLOSED CAMPUS: For the safety of our Teachers, Faculty, and Students and to promote a productive learning environment, Oakleaf High School is a closed campus. Teachers meet with parents by appointment. Parents must check in to the front office before proceeding to the ESE office, Guidance Office, etc. Parents are not able to "drop in" Ms. Hawkins' Classroom to visit as we are in a productive High School learning environment. If you wish to visit the classroom, please contact me to arrange an appropriate time.
